NAUGHT WASTED
PROACTIVE IDEA
In the UK, food waste is a notable concern, touching upon consumer behaviours and agricultural practices alike. Consumers often discard edible food due to a lack of awareness regarding expiration dates and storage methods, while supermarkets' strict cosmetic standards lead to the rejection of perfectly good produce before it's left the farm gate.
Estimates predict that 3.6 million tonnes, or 7.2% of all food harvested, is wasted before it leaves UK farms every year. If this wasted food had been sold at market value, it would have fetched £1.2 billion (WRAP, 2019).
